过去的传统不孕症治疗,最为人所诟病的便是通常需要注射大量的排卵针剂,不仅造成身体的负担,也带给不孕症患者心理上的庞大压力。事实上,过多的排卵针剂刺激,除了易引发Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS:卵巢过度刺激症候群)外,所得到的卵子品质也是一个大问号。近年来研究发现,过度的排卵针剂及药物刺激,更有造成卵巢癌及乳癌的风险。自然周期与温和刺激疗法可以说是一种顺应人体自然排卵机制的助孕方法。相较于传统不孕症治疗,本疗法不需利用药物过度刺激卵巢来大量增加可抽取的卵子数目,只育成必要的卵子数量,因此不但可减少疗程中的药剂种类与用药剂量,降低对身体所造成的负担,经由身体自然筛选出来的少数卵子,在品质方面也较为优良。
近年来,由于社会文化与价值观的演进,现代女性往往因为工作、学业以及寻找真爱等因素延后结婚生子时机,到3、40岁才开始准备生儿育女,但从女性正常生理机能来看,最佳的黄金生育年龄却落在23-34岁!伴随着这样”生育高龄化”现象而来的往往便是必须面对难孕、不孕甚至是新生儿健康等问题。由于目前并无有效延缓人体器官老化的医学科技,一旦卵巢功能退化,难以取得健康卵子甚至是濒临停经的不排卵情况,即便有再卓越的人工生殖技术,也不免有巧妇难为无米之炊之憾!因此,利用玻璃化快速冷冻方法,让时间暂停,将健康卵子冻结在黄金时期,做为未来计画生育之用,为晚孕的新时代女性或是有必须进行特殊医疗需求的女性带来新”生”机,也提供了未来幸福人生的保障。
2003年纽约大学生殖医学中心的Dr.Noyes赴义大利访问了慢速冷冻专家Dr.Porcu后,决心在NYU生殖医学中心发展人类卵子冷冻技术,便将这个大任交付于当时专任科学家的张宏吉医师以及来自中国的复制猫熊专家刘辉。然而相较于精子、胚胎冷冻技术已行之有年,当时卵子冷冻仍有难以突破的障碍,使得张宏吉医师迟迟不敢接受这项请求。面对NYU生殖医学中心主任Dr.Grifo与Dr.Noyes的再三请托,张宏吉医师终于下定决定挑战这项艰难的任务。
在2005年,人类卵子冷冻技术开发的成功案例被报导在美国全国公司电视NBC TV。
并且在2002年至2007年间,连续六年在人类生殖领域的最高权威,美国生殖医学学会发表了13篇的研究论文报告。
日本国内日报发行量第二名的朝日新闻于2013年以全版面介绍本院。
本院于2014年接受日本TBS频道「NEWS 23」新闻节目采访,该节目针对在本院借卵之日本患者进行贴身采访制作专题报导。
2016年,位于日本广岛报社所发行的报纸「中国新闻」亦大幅报导本院借卵治疗成果,一时之间蔚为话题。
2017年登上亚洲第一大报「读卖新闻」头条新闻,报导日本人来台湾宏孕生殖医学中心治疗受赠卵子情况。显现日媒重视日人到台治疗情况并大幅报导。
